Loved this book. it was so interesting to see things in such a different perspective. I know I would have always been in trouble driving out of the black drinking fountains. helping out black folk s, I would not have been able to stand by and watch someone hurt I'm sure I would not have lived long. My best friend is black but until I read this book I never understood the restriction of the 50, 60, all the way up to the late 90s plus I LOVE TIME TRAVEL. It is a awesome time travel book. tons of suspense. I book you want to have the next day off because you will be up lateh you can't put it down. I found myself saying one more page which lead to one more page to one more page.....Product details

Good idea that was too drawn out.
What would our world be like if the battle at Gettysburg had turned out differently? Paul Grimshaw takes the reader on a clever ride back in history by way of a celebration of history - a reenactment of the Civil War. If you want to have some time travel fun, pick it up and go with the characters - who take along their own issues - through adventures in alternative eras. The book will scoop you up on page one and won't put you back down till the end.
A wonderful read! Bravo to the Author! A compelling journey into black holes, worm holes, and the possibility of it all!

Travelers of the Gray Dawn caught my attention in the first few words and kept me captivated through the end. The author does a fantastic job of mixing in accurate and detailed historical references through the book and paints a masterful picture of the historical significance of the Battle of Gettysburg. The book provides a thought provoking look into bone chilling reality of how different our world could be based on a few small variations in history. No matter if you are a history buff, a science fiction lover, a deep thinker, or a time travel/alternative history lover you will absolutely love this book. If not then this book will make you a fan of alternative history.... you will not be disappointed.
The story is imaginative and well written, the characters nicely drawn. The time travel, multi universe stuff is a little hard to follow and slows the action of the story. The author's real life experience as a civil war enactor lends a unique realism to the characters' experience. Once I got into the story about a quarter of the way, I wanted to finish to see how the story ended.
I was born and raised in South Carolina and this book was advertised in a local tourist publication in Myrtle Beach where it caught my attention while on vacation. It was a very interesting read although all the scientific chatter was a little hard to follow. I'm not sure how I feel about how the South was portrayed in this book. It almost felt insulting but not so much that it was obvious. I couldn't tell if the author was intending to portray the South as redneck hicks that would have ruined and held back the entire country had they won the war. Was there a subtle insinuation that had the South won they didn't have the "smarts" to bring forth technology and forward thinking ideas? Overall, I recommend this book as a fun thought provoking read.
Enjoyed this book and it's descriptions of the Battle of Gettysburg and the imaginative scenario that might have played out if that battle had turned out with the Confederates winning. The story is not sympathetically favorable to the Confederate or to the Union sides as the author does a good job describing the feelings of both southerners and northerners. I found myself immersed in the fiction and looked forward to the next chapter to find out what happens to the likable characters.
Most of all, it makes me want to read more about the Civil War and about wormholes.
